Weekend class

Is your child in grade 7 or 8? Does your child love learning new things? Then WeekendKlas (‘Weekend Class’) might be just the thing for them!

At WeekendKlas, students explore professions such as doctors, real estate agents, architects, and physiotherapists, as well as creative professions like illustrators, theater makers, and fashion designers. Guest speakers discuss their professions, either in our classroom at the Rijksmuseum Boerhaave in Leiden or at their own workplaces. This helps students discover what interests them and what they excel at.

During WeekendKlass students work on language and reading, as well as skills they’ll need later in life. These skills include communicating clearly, collaborating, asking good questions, and solving problems. To practice these skills, students also literally step into the shoes of specific professions through assignments and games. By discussing news topics, children learn to think and participate in discussions about what’s happening in the world.

Participating in WeekendKlas is fun, educational, and a great way to spend time with the group! WeekendKlas runs every Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (school holidays are free). Students can participate for one or two years.

Weekend Class is for children from: Leiden, Leiderdorp, Oegstgeest or Zoeterwoude.

Students receive a Friends Pass from the Rijksmuseum Boerhaave to visit the museum for free with family or friends.
