Families: Program from 9 years old
Ontdekweken
JES organizes Ontdekweken (‘Discovery Weeks’) during the school holidays for children in grades 6 and 7 from Leiden, Leiderdorp, and Katwijk. During school holidays, children can learn new things and develop their talents.
Each Discovery Week has a theme, such as plastic, water, or advertising. Children learn by doing: they collaborate on assignments and projects and visit unique locations in the city. This way, they develop important skills like collaboration, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
Language development is a key part of Discovery Week. Children engage in reading, writing, speaking, and presenting. This helps not only at school but also in everyday life. It also helps them grow in self-confidence and discover what they enjoy and what they’re good at.
The Discovery Weeks take place in inspiring locations, such as the Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, the Children’s Rights House, the Wereldmuseum Leiden, and Cultuurhuis Planck (Katwijk Library). Register your child for a fun and educational week full of fun, camaraderie, and making new friends.
